Traverse City Hearing Aid - Goal To Improve HearingBeyond Your Hearing Aid

Moving Beyond Background Noise

If you are experiencing the effects of hearing loss, you may notice that your listening worlds is more difficult to navigate. It may be harder to participate in casual conversation, in social gatherings, or at work, in church or at school.

Our goal is to improve your accessibility to conversations in all these places so that you can distinguish speech from background noise and experience a listening lifestyle that is both comfortable and clear. Usually we can achieve that result with the use of hearing instruments, but occasionally hearing loss is so dramatic that you may continue to have difficulty especially in the presence of background noise.

Induction Loop Systems

Induction Loop Systems provide a simple, reasonably priced solution to improve your understanding over distance and in the presence of background noise.

An Induction Loop System consists of a sound source, loop amplifier and a wire placed around the circumference of the "listening area". This area may be confined to one person when a neck loop is used, or it may be as large as an auditorium or theater. Audio signals are amplified an sent through the loop wire, resulting in an electro magnetic field.

Individuals with hearing aids can access this field with the use of their tele-coil switch.

When the hearing aid is switched to T, the unit's internal microphone is replaced by a tiny wire coil. Switching the aid to "T" transforms the hearing aid from a sound sensing device to an electromagnetism receiver.

Traverse City Hearing Aid - FM SystemsFM Systems

FM systems (frequency-modulated radio waves) consist of a microphone with a transmitter.

Speech is transmitted to the receiver by radio waves. The receiver then transmits the speech to the hearing aid.

The microphone helps isolate the speaker's voice from the ambient noises of the room - feet tapping, paper scraping, any background noise - this helps the listener concentrate better on what's being said.
